Privacy Policy
Effective date: 22 July 2026
PawPalette is operated by David McGann (davidmcgannjvk).
PawPalette is a website for browsing freely licensed dog photography and arranging it into moodboards. There is no sign-up, no user account and no login. The short version: it does not collect personal information, it sets no tracking cookies, and anything you save stays in your own browser.
1. Information collected
None that identifies you. PawPalette has no accounts and asks for no names, email addresses, payment details, contacts or location data. It runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and sets no tracking cookies.
The only thing you actively provide is the text you type into the search box, which is used solely to fetch matching photographs.
2. Favourites and local storage
When you save a photo, PawPalette stores it in your browser's localStorage under the key pawpalette:favorites:v1. This never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else.
Clearing your browser data, or using the site in a different browser or on a different device, removes or hides those favourites. There is no server-side copy to restore.
3. Third-party services
Pexels supplies the photographs. Your search terms are forwarded to the Pexels API to retrieve results, and images are served from the Pexels image CDN. Pexels handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Search requests are made server-side by PawPalette rather than from your browser, so Pexels receives the search term but not your IP address or browser identifiers. Images themselves are loaded directly from the Pexels CDN, which does see the requests your browser makes for those files.
Cloudflare hosts the site and, as any web host does, processes standard request data such as IP address and user agent in order to serve pages and protect against abuse. This is handled under Cloudflare's own privacy terms.
PawPalette does not integrate with Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok or any social platform, and does not post anything on your behalf.
4. Downloads and image licensing
Photographs are provided by Pexels under the Pexels licence, which permits downloading, keeping and modifying them free of charge. Downloading a photo transfers it directly from the Pexels CDN to your device; PawPalette keeps no record of what you download.
Attribution is not required by that licence, but the photographer's name is shown throughout, and each photo links back to its page on Pexels.
5. Retention
PawPalette holds no database and retains nothing about you. Favourites persist in your browser until you remove them or clear your browser data. Search terms are not logged or stored by the site.
6. Your choices
You can remove individual favourites in the interface, clear all of them by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings, or simply use the site without saving anything. Because nothing is stored server-side, there is no account to delete and no data export to request.
7. Children's privacy
PawPalette is not directed at children and knowingly collects no information from anyone, children included. If you believe a child's information has somehow been involved, contact the address below and it will be dealt with.
8. Changes to this policy
If the site's data handling changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above revised. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
